Introduction; The Sock Game
I love the sharing that goes on over Instagram. Things are definitely more infectious when you’re seeing them in real life. And with children, quick, free and fun activities are always winners!
I saw this fun looking game on the story board of @me_you_plus_two and am ever so grateful as it helped restore some post Christmas normality in our house. It was simple, engaging and turned our overtired and sad that Christmas was over kids, back into our normal plain old overtired ones 😂
The sock game really is what it says on the…ummm…sock. You put little items in a sock and select at random one to find. Then you feel about in the sock, until you think you’ve got it and pull it out! We wrote the items’ names on paper and randomly selected which item to go after. However I think you might be able to buy the game with a spinner.
After a few rounds it turned into the good old memory tray game from my youth (show children items, cover with a tea towel, sneak an item away, kids guess what has gone) and it helped us all relax into a quiet afternoon at home. After a busy morning spent out and about this was much needed.
And that was that 🙂 I did say that it was quick, easy and fun!
Sometimes something quick, free and fun is all you need. It may have started with me saying “we ARE having fun” and “shall I just ring the school and see if you can go back early?” 🙄😬 but it ended with us all feeling strangely back to normal and more chilled.
Later that night we ended the day with a mini football kick around in the lounge. We had not done this for ages! I think a lot of our normal had been forgotten about in the Christmas crazy. So it was nice to get back to the normal day to day fun.
Christmas we still miss you a bit but we are ready and willing for January joy. And if it’s not Christmas but you want a bit of chill – this could be the game for you!
Keep scrolling for a couple of pictures if you want any ideas for random objects or enjoy cute phonetic spellings!
It’s normally the kids that somehow manage to take one object from every toy / game and shake them all up 🙋♀️😜🙄
